BSI completes evaluation of Eurosmart’s Secure Sub-System in System-on-Chip Protection Profile (PP-0117)

The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) completed the certification of Eurosmart’s PP-0117 Protection Profile for Secure Sub-System in System-on-Chip (3S in SoC).

The PP-0117 version 1.5 has been evaluated at an approved evaluation facility using the Common Methodology for IT Security Evaluation (CEM) for conformance to the Common Criteria (CC). The Target of Evaluation (TOE) is a Secure Sub-System (3S) integrated in a System on Chip (SoC). The 3S provides its security features and security services isolated from the remaining SoC components and may rely on external memories. The 3S is defined either as a hard macro or as a programmable logic (PL) macro.

“This Protection Profile clearly answers market needs and will surely become a reference -just like our PP-0084- to evaluate the cybersecurity of connected devices. I would like to thank the members of the ITSC Committee for their hard work and the BSI for the excellent collaboration,” said Alban Feraud, President of Eurosmart.

Rachel Menda Shabat, Chairwoman of ITSC’s 3S in SoC PP Working Group, added “I’m delighted to see the work of the ITSC Committee certified by the BSI. After over two years of work on the subject, such a certification is a great achievement. This PP is not a mere technical document; it has the potential to improve everyone’s daily life by making sure that a key component in their smartphones, laptops and other connected devices is fully secure.”
