In April of this year the European Commission presented the proposal for an Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA) and later in August the International Standardisation Joint Technical Committee 1 presented new work item proposal ISO/IEC 9868 for a related international standard. The Act sounds very interesting and paves a way forward, but there are also some questions. What does remote biometric identification mean? Does the regulation apply to surveillance only? Does it apply to other modalities than face (e.g. voice recognition)?
The German biometrics standardisation group (DIN) and EAB are proud to present the Workshop on the Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA) on November 10. This workshop regarding the AIA and international standardization of AI gathers the biometrics and AI standardisation community in order to learn and discuss possible implications, through talks and break out sessions.
